Steelers have two huge flaws:
1. QB is likely not elite. If all goes well AR can be like late Ben protected by a great line with good wr. A good decision maker who can’t elevate personnel but won’t waste receivers making plays. Overall average QB.

2. Lack of elite talent. Top 10-15 player in the league. Watt would need to rebound big to give us a true game breaker.

The strength of the team is depth. I can’t point to one starter I hate. I don’t even see us having a starter who has 0% chance of making a pro-bowl. Almost every guy I could see having a career year or breakout year and making one.

The Knicks just won a championship without having a superstar so it’s possible. The Steelers look like a team of good players. The only guy on the roster who has pure physical gifts to be a problem for NFL level athletes would seem to be Darnell Washington. Watt and AB use to be the guys the other team would scheme to stop and fail to do so.

Yes, go back and see Faneca's comments to playing with a rookie QB when Ben became the starter. No team really wants a rookie QB playing and have to suffer through the learning phase but if the team has built a solid core around the young QB and the young QB has some good coaching it can work out well. Omar and Weidl have started to put a pretty strong core group of players together over the past couple drafts and free agency additions. We're starting to see draft picks get second contracts again and for the first time in quite a while this team is going to need to make some really tough cuts.

TThe Roster is basically a push. We lost a lot of guys, and we added a lot of guys. But the swapping of complete coaching staffs is huge, and will be the deciding factor in what this team does this year.

This team is a contender for sure.

There are a upgrades at certain positions like CB, NT, KR/PR, and WR with a good mix of young rising prospects that pushed competition to a new level under MM.

My slight concern is the OL moving around. However, they are proven experienced players moving to the left side of OL with our 1st round pick staying in his natural RT position. Not too worried about protection from opposing EDGE rushers because we can always plug Washington against the threat.

As always how many injuries and how severe the injuries are a big factor in this long brutal schedule but we sure have plenty of depth at most positions. Expect the team to get better as the season goes on with higher ceiling at many positions and experience into a new offensive system. The teams worthy of contending are the ones improving during the latter half of the NFL season.

Something people aren't taking seriously enough. Gambling is an addiction. The man needs help. Like any addiction it is not easily cured. What will people be saying when he throws a ball into the dirt on what appears to be a game winning drive? People will be jumping off of his band wagon faster than when they jumped on. Many people are viewing him through rose-colored glasses. The Steelers should not be a facility for gambling addiction. However I do wish well.
